Description

The novel, the autobiographical
The art of the novel

In our annual novel course we propose some examples of how the genre has been related to autobiography from the 19th century to the end of our lives. If authors such as Dickens or Dostoevsky face the obligation to model their own records according to the canons in force at the time, from the 20th century onwards memory is going to take over the forms in order to constitute a language of its own that challenges the limits of fiction and is constituted in testimony and jutge of the great debates of the moment, from the Holocaust to feminism, racial identity or cultural heritage.
